Description
This bread crumbs recipe brings cozy comfort to your table with buttery noodles and crispy golden crumbs.
Ingredients
-
1 (12 oz) package of wide egg noodles
-
1/2 cup unsalted butter (113g)
-
1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs (about 60g)
-
1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
-
Boil the noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until tender, usually 7–9 minutes. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
-
Toast the breadcrumbs: While the noodles are boiling, melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Once melted, add the breadcrumbs and stir constantly until golden brown and fragrant. This should take 3–5 minutes. Be careful not to let them burn, and reduce the heat if needed.
-
Combine noodles and breadcrumbs: Add the drained noodles directly into the skillet with the toasted breadcrumbs. Toss gently to coat all the noodles in the buttery crumb mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
-
Serve warm: Once everything is combined and heated through, transfer the noodles to a serving bowl. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
-
Burning the breadcrumbs: Breadcrumbs toast quickly, so don’t walk away from the skillet.
-
Not draining the noodles well: Extra water can dilute the buttery flavor and make the dish soggy.
-
Using flavored or sweetened breadcrumbs: Stick to plain breadcrumbs so the butter flavor shines through.
-
Not seasoning enough: While simple, this dish still needs salt and pepper to bring out the flavor.
